Iruya Trip
At the indicated time, we'll leave from your hotel in Purmamarca and head to the fascinating high-altitude valleys of northern Argentina - one of South America's beautiful wilderness areas!
We'll travel around 2.5 miles through a transitional environment between the desert and the Argentinean jungle. This is an area of complex geography and abundant resources. Along the way, we'll tell you how the ancient inhabitants harvested their own food on terraces that collected the water that descended the mountain slopes.
After learning about this original cultivation system, we'll head to the beautiful town of Iruya. You'll be fascinated by the surroundings of this town between hills and rivers! There we'll start a walk through its steep stone streets to discover its charms.
We'll explore in its beautiful historic centre and visit the parish church, built on a hill from which you can see the whole town. From the famous Mirador del Cóndor viewpoint, we'll enjoy the views of the valley.
At the end of the tour of Iruya, you'll have one hour free to enjoy the local gastronomy. After lunch, we'll return to your hotel in Purmamarca, where we'll arrive eight hours after the start time.
