Ravenna's Mosaics

Ravenna is known as the city of mosaics, and there are good reasons for this, as it boasts of the richest collection of Early Christian mosaics in the world. Did you know that this collection of monuments forms part of UNESCO's list of World Heritage sites?

With this ticket, you'll get to visit the main diocesan monuments of Ravenna, and you'll be able to access 3 to 5 of the following attractions: the Basilica of San Vitale, the Basilica of Sant'Apollinare Nuovo, the Archbishop Museum, the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, or the Baptistery of Neon.

Inside each of these, you'll be able to admire beautiful mosaics of Byzantine origin, dating from the 5th to 6th centuries AD. Additionally, you'll be able to interpret the iconography and the messages behind each work, which serve as proof of the different cultures and religions intersecting. You'll learn so much!

Through Ravenna's mosaics, you'll also learn about the history of the city of Romagna. In fact, the mosaics feature significant figures of the period and key historical events, such as the founding of Civita Classis, the ancient port of the city, which can be seen in the Basilica of Sant'Apollinare Nuovo.
