2-Hour Tour
This tour is focused on three of the city's most important architectural gems. First, we'll admire the majestic Basilica of San Vitale, a prime example of primitive Christian art. Its majestic mosaics, including the famous representations of the emperor Justinian and the empress Theodora, will leave you breathless. Did you know they date back to the year 532 A.C.?
Afterward, it'll be time to visit the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia. After seeing its facade from the outside, we'll step inside to admire its spectacular mosaics, characterized by their use of an intense blue. These angelical figures look like they almost come to life, don't you think? Our last stop of the tour will be at the Baptistery of Neon, famous for its series of biblical scenes narrated with extraordinary liveliness and chromatic precision.
3-Hour Tour
If you choose this option, you'll enjoy a longer tour by visiting five must-see monuments. First, we'll see the Basilica of Sant'Apollinare Nuovo, one of the oldest churches in the city. We'll enter its interior to admire its extraordinary series of mosaics about the life of Christ and the martyrs.
Then, we'll continue the guided tour by exploring the Basilica of San Vitale, the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, and the Baptistery of Neon, learning in-depth about the technique and symbolism of its Byzantine representations. Finally, the guide will take us to the entrance of the Archiepiscopal Museum. Here, you can discover the Archbishop's Chapel, the last of the five UNESCO monuments included in this tour.
