Horse Riding Activity at the Chimborazo Volcano
Having picked you up from your hotel in Riobamba at the indicated time, we'll head towards the foothills of the Chimborazo Volcano. When we get to the refuge, we'll set off on our 3-hour horse ride at 4,100 metres (13,451 feet) of altitude.
We'll trot along trails that are full of plant life endemic to this area such as the almohadilla, the ashpachocho, the climber's flower and the caballochupa. We'll also meet the friendly Andean vicuñas, which are a species of high mountain camelid.
At around 2:30 pm, we'll take a break to refuel with a sandwich, a piece of fruit and some juice. While we rest for a bit, we'll admire the views of Chimborazo and Carihuairazo, part of the western range of the Andes.
Afterwards, we'll continue on horseback to the Cóndor Samana Waterfall, a 131-foot (40-metre) waterfall created by the nearby melting glaciers. The water here is even said to have therapeutic properties.
It'll then be time to say goodbye to our equine friends and head back to Riobamba. Our arrival at your hotel is scheduled for 5 pm.
