On this tour of Liberty Station in San Diego, you have the chance to discover the history of the US Navy at a real former naval training center. On the day of the activity, we'll meet at Liberty Public Market.
After a brief introduction, we'll walk through what was once Camp Paul Jones at Point Loma. Here, we'll learn about what it was like to become a highly esteemed sailor with the US Navy.
From here, we'll go to the old dispensary, where the recruits would have received medical attention. Other places to visit at Liberty Station include the Sail Ho golf course and the WAVES barracks, where the women who joined the Volunteer Emergency Service in 1943 were trained.
We'll walk past the buildings that were part of this naval base until we reach the Command Center, where we'll see an exhibition showing what life was like for the enlisted men.
In addition, our tour of Liberty Station will also take us to Ingram Plaza, Boats Memorial and Preble Field.
Finally, after 2.5 hours of diving into the naval history of San Diego, we'll return to the starting point and end the tour.
