Join us to explore two of the breathtaking natural wonders of Neuquén province on this excursion: the Huechulafquen Lake and Lanín Volcano!
Day Trip to Huechulafquen Lake & Lanín Volcano
At 9 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in downtown San Martin de los Andes and set off to explore two natural wonders in Neuquén province - Huechulafquen Lake and Lanin Volcano in Lanin National Park.
Our first stop will be at the mouth of the Chimehuín River, a renowned fishing spot and the source of the impressive Huechulafquen Lake. This natural treasure, along with Paimún and Epulafquen lakes, forms an important lake system. According to legend, there is a hidden city behind this lake.
Next, we'll visit the town of Junín de los Andes and explore the Nuestra Señora de las Nieves church and Mapuche cultural center. Then, we'll journey through the Lanin National Park until we reach Lake Huechulafquen, the largest lake in the area.
Afterwards, you'll have free time for lunch on your own and feeling refuelled, we'll head towards Lake Huechulafquen. As soon as we arrive, we'll have the best view of the volcano that guards it while we enjoy its surroundings.
We'll also visit Lake Paimún, a tranquil paradise surrounded by snow-capped mountains. Its name means "run quietly" in the local language.
On our way back, we'll stop at the Mapuche communities to learn about their lifestyle and dwellings.
Finally, we'll return to San Martin de los Andes around 6 pm and drop you back off at your hotel.
