On this off-roading tour, we’ll explore the stunning Lençóis Maranhenses and stop to swim in the Andorinhas, Gaivota, and Serra lagoons, all surrounded by endless white dunes. A truly magical route.
Ready for an adventure through one of Brazil’s most unique landscapes? We’ll pick you up from your hotel in Santo Amaro in a powerful off-roading vehicle. Soon after leaving town, the paved roads disappear and we head deep into the wild scenery of Lençóis Maranhenses National Park.
Keep your camera close. We’ll drive along sandy tracks, crossing a vast sea of shifting white dunes shaped by the wind. As we climb and descend these rolling hills, you’ll see panoramic views that seem to stretch on forever. This is Lençóis Maranhenses at its most untouched.
Our first stop will be Andorinhas Lagoon. As we approach, the contrast between the bright sand and the clear water is striking. Beneath the dunes lies an impermeable layer that traps rainwater, forming these freshwater lagoons. The water is clean, calm, and surprisingly warm, perfect for a refreshing swim.
Next, we’ll continue to Gaivota Lagoon, one of the most iconic in the Santo Amaro area. Surrounded by high dunes and wide open views, it’s easy to see why this national park is so famous and photographed across Brazil. The reflections on the water create unforgettable scenes.
Our final stop will be Serra Lagoon, located at a slightly higher point in the park. From here, the horizon feels even more expansive. The breeze picks up, the light shifts, and the landscape takes on an almost dreamlike quality. You’ll have time for one last swim or simply to take in the surroundings.
After approximately 4 hours exploring by off-roading vehicle, we’ll make our way back and drop you off at your hotel in Santo Amaro.
