Explore the colourful streets, magnificent churches and colonial houses of Ayacucho on this guided tour through the heart of the city.
Ayacucho Guided Tour
We'll meet at 3:30 pm in the Plaza Mayor square. From there we'll begin to tour Ayacucho and learn about the history of the city. In this square, we'll be surrounded by fascinating architecture from the city's colonial past such as the Casa de Baza y Solís and the spectacular baroque Cathedral.
As we explore its streets, we'll notice more of its colonial houses and brightly coloured buildings. Our tour will continue to the Hipólito Unanue Museum, where we'll find out all about ancient Peruvian civilizations: Chimú, Moche, Wari and Inca.
Next we'll stop in front of the Santa Teresa de las Carmelitas Descalzas Monastery. Did you know that Ayacucho is known as "the city of churches"? See how many you can count on the tour!
Ayacucho is also famous for its crafts. As we head through the Santa Ana neighbourhood, we'll learn about huamanga stone carving and weaving. Our last stop will be at the Acuchimay Viewpoint, where we'll enjoy breathtaking views of the city.
The tour will end here at 7 pm.
