Find out all about Peru's ancient Inca civilization on this day trip to the Vilcashuamán and Pumacocha archaeological sites.
After meeting in the Plaza Mayor of Ayacucho at 8 am, we'll get on the bus and set off to see the Puyas de Raimondi, magnificent plants also known as the "queen of the Andes".
The tour will continue to the Pumacocha Archaeological Complex, where we'll be able to see the architectural remains of what was a resting place for the higher classes of the Inca culture. We'll also admire the tower, the sundial or Intihuatana and the remains of the palace.
Before continuing the trip, we'll take a short break so you can get something to eat. After lunch, we'll head to the Archaeological Complex of Vilcashuamán, a city that was once the Inca administrative centre.
Inside, we'll marvel at the trapezoid-shaped plaza, which can hold up to 20,000 people. To the south of this square is the ancient Temple of the Sun. Did you know that in the 16th century the church of San Juan Bautista was built on top of it?
At the end of the trip we'll head back to Ayacucho, arriving by around 8 pm.
