Enjoy the natural environment and culture of Bucay on this bike tour - see the magnificent waterfalls and visit the indigenous Shuar community.
Options
During the booking process, you'll be able to choose between two different options. Each starts and finishes at the Transit Commission.
Shuar community tour (3 hours)
If you choose this option, we'll take a bicycle route to get to know the Shuar community first-hand.
Upon our arrival, we'll be greeted with a traditional dance to welcome us to their home. Over the course of the tour, we'll gain an insight into the culture and traditions of the Shuar community, including some of their rituals. Did you know that this tribe is renowned for their hunting skills?
At a certain point of the tour, the Shuar will offer us some homemade drinks and paint our faces so that we feel like one of the tribespeople.
After 3 hours, we'll return by bike to the meeting point and end this experience.
Waterfall tour (6 hours)
With this option, we'll make the most of the nature that surrounds Bucay. In this area of the Ecuadorian Amazon, there are incredible places that can only be reached on foot or by bicycle.
We'll begin by heading to the forest of La Esperanza, where we'll embark on this walking tour of the three most important waterfalls of Bucay. Of course, we'll also leave you some time to take a swim and relax.
Next, we'll make our way down the so-called 'waterfall route', which stretches for 10-15 kilometres (6-9 miles). Don't worry, we'll make a stop along the way to regain our energy and also visit a sugar mill.
Afterwards, we'll refuel with a well-earned, wholesome lunch. After 6 hours of adventure, we'll return to the meeting point to conclude the activity.
