On this tour to Lapa we'll travel back to the 19th century to learn about the town's past. We'll also visit Monge State Park.
Lapa & Monge State Park Tour
At 8 am we'll pick you up at your hotel in Curitiba and drive southwest to the beautiful town of Lapa.
After an hour and a half drive, we'll get out of the vehicle and start a guided tour of the historic centre of Lapa. We'll stroll through its streets admiring such emblematic places as the parish church of San Antonio or the Ney Braga memorial, where this important Brazilian politician, who became governor of the state of Paraná, was born.
We'll see houses and mansions and discover the most fascinating chapters of the history of this town. Do you know who the 'Woodpeckers' and the 'Maragatos' were? We'll explain the details of the bloody confrontation between these two sides in the siege of Lapa, which took place in 1894.
During the tour of Lapa we'll visit the Arms Museum, the São João Theatre and the Lacerda House to see what life was like in a well-to-do 19th-century Paraná family's home.
We'll take a break in a restaurant to enjoy a lunch that includes pork rinds, beans and other typical local delicacies such as tropeiro. It's enough to make your mouth water!
Once we have regained our strength, we'll return to the minibus and head for the Monge State Park, a natural area where we'll be able to admire the lush vegetation and walk through caves and deep canyons. These lands were also the home of a monk named João Maria, to whom several miracles are attributed. This place is shrouded in mysticism!
We'll finish the excursion by dropping you off at your hotel between 5 pm and 5:30 pm.
