On this Punta Este hiking route, we'll take a walk featuring cliffs, striking golden dunes, and panoramic views of the South Atlantic.
Activity Details
We'll begin this Punta Este hiking route after meeting at the parking lot of Paraná Beach. Once we're ready, we'll spend around 5 minutes explaining the history and geology of this natural setting, revealing how these lands preserve traces of a remote past. Now, let's get started!
We'll set off, and during the first 30 minutes of the hike, we'll gently ascend along a trail that will take us to a cliff, where the wind will wrap us in its salty scent. We'll walk across terrain in ochre tones and fossilized sands as Golfo Nuevo opens up before us like a mesmerizing natural stage.
We'll reach the first panoramic viewpoint to stop and take in views of Puerto Madryn on the horizon. With a bit of luck, we'll spot a sea lion playing among the waves and coastal birds taking flight, such as gulls, cormorants, and oystercatchers.
We'll then continue toward the marine gypsum ravines, where we'll spend 40 minutes exploring a landscape that seems from another planet. This white geological material, carved over millennia, will form a labyrinth of shimmering folds around us. Here, we'll learn about the mystery of the Punta Este petroglyphs, those enigmatic markings that spark the imagination.
Afterwards, the route will lead us to the low-tide pools, where we'll enjoy 30 minutes of calm. We'll watch how the sun reflects on these natural pools, creating sparkles that look like marine jewels. It'll be unforgettable!
To wrap up the route, we'll begin the return along a shorter trail. At the initial meeting point, we'll say our goodbyes after an adventure lasting almost 2 hours.
