On this day trip to the Valdes Peninsula with whale watching, we'll travel through an area of great biodiversity and see different cetaceans in their natural habitat.
Valdes Peninsula Day Trip + Whale Watching
At the appointed time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Puerto Madryn and depart to the Protected Natural Area of the Valdes Peninsula.
After paying the entrance fee to the reserve at the checkpoint, we'll continue the tour at the Carlos Ameghino isthmus interpretation center to learn about the characteristics of the local fauna and flora. Our tour of the peninsula then takes us to the town of Puerto Pirámides. Here, if weather conditions are favorable, you can spot whales on an unforgettable boat ride.
The next stop will be in Caleta Valdés, where, depending on the time of year, we'll make up to three stops. The first will be in the cove itself, where we'll witness how the sea draws the entrance of the tongue of water to the Valdes Peninsula. The second will be at Punta Cantor, which has two viewpoints where we can see elephant seals and sea lions throughout the year. The third will be at the penguin colony, where from September to April we can see the Magellanic penguins. At this last place, if the weather is good, it's also possible to see killer whales!
While admiring other native species such as guanacos, choiques, maras, hares, foxes and armadillos, we'll move on to another essential corner of the peninsula: Punta Norte. From September to December, we'll see a colony of elephant seals. From December to May, we'll observe a colony of sea lions. At Punta Norte, we can also observe killer whales if the conditions are favorable.
Finally, you'll have lunch on your own in the area and return to Puerto Madryn. Arrival at your hotel is scheduled 10 hours after pickup.
