2, 3 or 4-Day Tres Chimbadas Lake Tour
Day 1
We'll arrange a convenient pickup for you at either the airport or your accommodation in Puerto Maldonado, from where we'll proceed to the Ese Eja de Infierno indigenous community located along the Tambopata River. Here, we'll learn about the tribe's way of life and their sustainable land management practices in the Peruvian jungle.
Next, we'll hop on a boat and navigate through the river to reach the Tres Chimbadas Lake, where we'll get to see a plethora of animal species such as alligators, turtles, and capybaras - the world's largest rodent.
Upon reaching the lodge, we'll settle in and embark on a hike through the Amazon rainforest, home to a variety of monkeys, squirrels, and exotic birds. Later, we'll return to the lodge to indulge in a delicious lunch.
In the afternoon, we'll enjoy a peaceful paddle boat ride on the serene Tres Chimbadas Lake, where we can observe a wide variety of birds such as shanshos, needle ducks, kingfishers, and herons.
As the day comes to a close, we'll have dinner at the lodge before embarking on an exciting night walk to observe the fascinating amphibians, insects, and reptiles that thrive in the area.
Day 2
We'll start our day by waking up early and entering the jungle to visit the natural viewpoint of Tres Chimbadas Lake. From there, we'll witness a breathtaking sunrise. After enjoying the view, we'll return to the lodge for breakfast.
Then, we'll take a boat ride back to Puerto Maldonado, where we'll drop you off at your hotel or the airport. It's time to say goodbye to the Peruvian Amazon and take with you unforgettable memories of this unique experience.
3 or 4-day tour
If you book the 3-day tour, on the second day, after breakfast we'll take an ethnobotanical walk to learn about medicinal plants and giant trees such as the Lupuna or the Shihuahuaco. In the afternoon, we'll explore local fishing practices, are you ready to try to catch piranhas? To end the day, we'll take a night canoe ride on the Tres Chimbadas Lake in search of black alligators.
If you feel like staying even longer, on the 4-day tour we'll wake up early on the 3rd day and head over to La Torre clay lick, where we'll be able to see the macaws, parrots, and parakeets of the Amazon rainforest. During the trip, we'll have breakfast on board and visit a farm to learn about the planting and harvesting of products such as cocoa, bananas, cassava, and corn.
In the afternoon, we'll hike through an area full of chestnut trees that towner over 40 meters (130 feet) high, one of the icons of the Madre de Dios region! We'll end the day with a leisurely dinner at the lodge.
