Day Trip Details
When your boat docks, we'll be waiting for you at the cruise port of Puerto Montt. Once we're all gathered, we'll board a vehicle and set off northeast. Get your camera ready because you're in for beautiful landscapes!
We'll begin a short tour of the center of Puerto Montt, passing through the Plaza de Armas and its wooden cathedral, the oldest in Chile, erected in 1856 with native larch pillars and topped with a copper dome.
From there, we'll head to the road bordering Lake Llanquihue, the second largest in the country. In 1.5 hours, we'll cross landscapes of green meadows, traditional tile houses, and hills.
We'll then reach Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park, where you'll find the natural gem of the Petrohué Waterfalls. Once we arrive, we'll walk on trails among the typical myrtle and coihue forests until we find these waterfalls formed by the river of the same name. If the weather allows, you'll be able to see the silhouette of the Osorno Volcano in the distance.
After 1.5 hours, if the weather allows, we'll go on a 30-minute hike to ascend toward the viewpoint of Osorno Volcano, standing about 3.937 ft (1.200 m) tall. From there, you'll take in the beautiful scenic views of the rivers, lakes, and the volcanoes of Calbuco and Puntiagudo on the horizon. For 30 minutes, we'll tell you about the different eruptions of the Osorno Volcano, known as the "Chilean Fuji" for its perfect conic shape.
If the weather isn't on our side, we won't climb up to the viewpoint, but you'll have more time at the Petrohué Waterfalls to explore the area and take pictures.
Afterward, we'll head to Puerto Varas, located 45 minutes away. Here, we'll make a 30-minute stop to explore this city with a Bavarian spirit and Chilean heart. You'll see the German influence in its architecture, gardens with flowers, and traditional bakeries.
Finally, we'll start our journey back and drop you off at the cruise port of Puerto Montt after a total of 6 hours.
