Ticket to the Fort de Salses
Travel back in time with this ticket to the Fort de Salses, a magnificent fortress considered a masterpiece of military architecture. Due to its strategic location, the fortress has been the subject of dispute between Spain and France on numerous occasions, finally being conquered by France in 1642.
With this ticket, you'll be able to explore the fortress freely and discover its different parts, such as the common part, the stronghold and the keep, the fortress' last refuge.
It has also undergone several reconstructions and transformations carried out by the military engineer Vauban - a unique opportunity to find out about the ingenious skill of this French marshal!
Opening Times
The Fort de Salses is open Monday to Sunday at the following times:
- April 1 to September 30: from 10 am to 6:30 pm (uninterrupted)
- From October 1 to March 31: from 10 am to 12:45 pm and from 2 pm to 5:15 pm
Please note that the last allowed access is 45 minutes before closing time.
Free Admission
Admission to the Fort de Salses is free for the following individuals:
- Young people from the European Union between 18 and 25 years old.
- Children under 18 years old, regardless of their nationality.
In order to acquire the free admission mentioned above, you'll have to go to the site’s ticket office and present a valid ID demonstrating your eligibility for a free ticket.
Admission is also free for everyone on the first Sunday of the month between January 1 and March 31, between November 1 and December 31, and the third weekend of September.

Please note that, starting from May 16, 2025, there will be artworks in the Fort de Salses, which means the tower and upper sections will be closed.
