With this excursion to the Pachapupum volcano, you'll visit the most famous volcano in Sacsamarca and bathe in its mineral-rich pools!
Tour Details
We'll meet at the Plaza de Armas at the indicated time. Here, the bus will be waiting for us to take us to Sacsamarca, a cattle district located south of Ayacucho.
During the 4-5 hour road trip, we'll make a stop in the town of Condorccocha so you can stretch your legs and have breakfast on your own. Then, we'll stop again in Huanca Sancos so that those who haven't brought a picnic lunch can buy something to eat at noon.
Finally, we'll arrive at the Pachapupum volcano. We'll walk up to the top via natural steps that were formed by erosion. Once at the top, you can admire the impressive crater that measures 10 meters in diameter. You'll even see the water in the crater boiling due to the geothermal heat.
Other small wells around the crater formed thousands of years ago also due to erosion. The waters in these wells are rich in minerals such as salt and sulfur. You'll have the opportunity to bathe in these hot springs and enjoy their natural healing properties - don't forget to bring your swimsuit!
Finally, we'll take a break so that you can have the lunch you brought with you. Then, we'll return by bus to Ayacucho. Arrival at the initial departure point is scheduled for 18 hours after the start.
