Tour Description
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Chiclayo and, from there, we'll head north to Ferreñafe, where we'll visit the Sicán National Museum.
Here, we'll see the findings made in the huaca of El Loro, located in the Bosque de Pómac Historic Sanctuary. It is a unique site, where researchers found important pieces belonging to the Sicán culture. Among these objects, currently on display in the museum, are those discovered in the tomb of a man who was buried with gold, silver and tumbaga, an alloy of gold and copper that was highly prized in pre-Hispanic America.
After visiting the different rooms of the Sicán Museum, we'll leave Ferreñafe behind and continue our trip heading north towards Túcume. This area, popularly known as the Valley of the Pyramids, was the capital of the kingdom of Lambayeque in pre-Hispanic times.
In the middle of the desert, we'll see 26 adobe pyramids (huacas), which were ancient residential palaces of the elite of the time and later became the centre of political-administrative power of the Chimu and Inca cultures.
We'll visit the Túcume Site Museum and admire its architecture in the style of the ancient chapels of the 16th century. Inside we'll find original archaeological pieces belonging to the Lambayeque, Chimu and Inca cultures. We'll also learn about the history of Naylamp, founder of the Lambayeque culture.
During the tour of Túcume, we'll also visit some of its main pyramids: Huaca las Estacas, Huaca el Mirador and Huaca Larga. We'll also visit Huaca Las Balsas, one of the most important pre-Hispanic architectures of the archaeological complex of Túcume.
At the end of the visit to the site, we'll go to the town of Lambayeque, where you'll have an hour free for lunch. After lunch, we'll finally return to Chiclayo, where arrival at your hotel is scheduled 6.5 hours after pickup.
