Upon arrival in Aguaytía, we'll begin a 2.5-kilometre (1.5-mile) hike through the forest, which marks the start of the high jungle. This natural environment forms part of the first hills of the impressive Cordillera Azul, a place where biodiversity will surprise you at every step. Did you know that monkeys, parrots, toucans and the cock-of-the-rock, the symbol bird of Peru, live here? Pay attention to the sounds of the jungle, because wildlife is everywhere!
In addition to the fauna, the tour will allow you to discover a great variety of flora. You'll find species such as the balsa tree and the cetico, as well as heliconias and medicinal plants such as the matico.
After the walk, you'll arrive at the Alto Shambillo waterfall. Here, you'll have 2 hours free to enjoy this spectacular natural environment. You can relax by the natural pools formed by the waterfall and take a refreshing swim in its crystal clear waters.
Afterwards, we'll return to Aguaytia, where you'll have time to get yourself some lunch. You'll be able to choose between its tourist or Creole restaurants that offer the best of the local cuisine.
Feeling refuelled, we'll start our way back to Pucallpa, where we'll leave you at your hotel after a journey of approximately 12 hours.
