Central Peru: 5, 6 or 8-Day Tour
Day 1: Pucallpa - Puerto Inca
Upon arrival at the airport or bus station in Pucallpa, we'll start this tour through central Peru by heading to Puerto Inca, a two-and-a-half-hour drive away. Once there, we'll check into the hotel and you'll have the morning or afternoon free to explore Puerto Inca at your leisure. At 6 pm we'll reconvene for a tasting of local cocktails to whet your appetite before dinner, which will consist of several typical dishes.
Day 2: Puerto Inca - Huánuco - Puerto Inca
We'll start our second day by touring the Huánuco region. At 7:30 am we'll set off from Puerto Inca towards a local fish farm, where we'll discover how the farmers get the freshest fish. Then we'll go to the Pintuyacu River, a beautiful natural spot where you can enjoy its crystal clear waters with a refreshing swim.
After some lunch with grilled fish, we'll continue with a hiking route through the jungle of central Peru where we'll have fun looking for wild fruits and vegetables. In the mid-afternoon we'll return to Puerto Inca and, after a dinner consisting of various dishes, we'll attend a salsa class!
Day 3: Puerto Inca - Amazon Rainforest
On the third day, we'll wake up early to leave Puerto Inca behind and head to the village of Quimpichari. From there, we'll set off into the Amazon Rainforest for an hour-long hike through lush tropical vegetation, stopping to fish in the river along the way.
For lunch, we'll prepare a bonfire to cook what we have caught and sit around the fire. We'll then continue walking and exploring the surroundings until we reach the area where we'll set up camp for the night, cradled by the sounds of the jungle.
Day 4: Amazon Rainforest - Puerto Inca
We'll wake up and have breakfast surrounded by the natural beauty of central Peru and then head to the caves of La Viuda, home to some mysterious bas-reliefs. After the visit, we'll go on a hiking route through the jungle until we reach the Viuda ravine, where you'll have some free time to swim and fish in its calm waters.
Then we'll have lunch and return to Puerto Inca, where we'll enjoy an evening of farewell snacks, cocktails and music.
Day 5: Puerto Inca - Pucallpa
Time to say goodbye! On the last day, we'll have breakfast and take you to the airport or bus station with plenty of time to spare to catch your flight or bus back home.
6-day tour
In this option with an additional day, the third day will be spent visiting the famous Río Hirviente (Boiling River) to see its steaming turquoise waters, followed by a visit to the Indigenous Mayantuyacu community. Here we'll meet the village shaman, who will show us some local rituals. After having lunch in the community, we'll return to Puerto Inca to then take you to Pucallpa.
8-day tour
In the 8-day circuit, in addition to everything mentioned in the 6-day itinerary, we'll go on a one-day boat ride on the Pachitea River and visit an Indigenous Ashaninca community, which will take place on the second additional day. We'll also spend an extra day at the Quimpichari campsite, where you can explore the jungle, swim in the creeks or enjoy optional activities such as birdwatching.
