Option 1: 3-Hour Hike
On this easier hiking trip, we'll walk between 8 and 10 kilometers (5 - 6.2 miles) along various trails through the forests of Argentine Andes, called yungas. This type of Andean forest is very characteristic of the area of San Lorenzo. As we walk around the areas surrounding the town we'll get the chance to appreciate a variety of local plants, such as epiphytes and different vines.
Once we reach the San Lorenzo ravine, we'll follow along the river hiking upstream, and continue until we reach a point where we'll be able to enjoy magnificent panoramic views of the city of Salta.
Departure times: 10 am and 3 pm
Option 2: 7-Hour Hike
In this case, we'll undertake a more difficult hike, this time 19 kilometers (12 miles) long. We'll first ascend through the San Lorenzo ravine and, little by little, we'll approach the high mountains of the Eastern Cordillera.
We'll also cross the lush landscapes of the mountain jungle, where we'll observe different local species of trees such as ceibos, walnut trees, and cedars, among others. We'll climb up to an altitude of 2400 meters (7,900 feet) above sea level to get the absolute best views of the Lerma Valley.
