A Culinary Tour of El Chaltén
Would you like to discover the most authentic flavors of Argentina’s trekking capital? Then meet us at 62 José Antonio Rojo Avenue. Are your taste buds ready? Let’s go!
We’ll kick off the experience with a welcome tasting at a traditional local spot. There, we’ll sample regional products made with ingredients typical of Patagonia. As we savor these bites, we’ll learn how El Chaltén emerged as a mountain settlement and how tourism transformed its culinary scene.
Throughout the tour, we’ll visit five small shops where we’ll sample Patagonian specialties. Depending on the season and what’s available at each spot, we’ll get to try cured meats, smoked foods, artisanal sweets, or dishes made with typical ingredients from southern Argentina.
During our stops, we’ll also toast with locally produced drinks, including beer. Our hosts will explain the technical aspects of each product, from fermentation processes to the use of glacial water and local ingredients. Did you know that many breweries in El Chaltén use Andean meltwater for its mineral purity?
Finally, we’ll say goodbye after three hours of a flavor-filled tour at San Martín 164.
